2018 Crafts for a Rainy Day, knit

My Baby Blue

Craft: Knitting

Pattern: Rib My Heiny Longies by Laura Spargo Anderson

Materials: 2 skeins Loops n Threads Wool to Wash, 1 size US 9 & US 8 circular needles

Here are some comfy ribbed pants that I made using some yarn that Gramma chose for baby boy. Instead of swatching, I based the size that I followed in the instructions off of the recommended gauges on the ball band and in the pattern. Since the yarn is bulky and the pattern uses worsted or DK weight, I followed the Newborn size for the cast-on and stitch counts and the 2 year old directions for the length. I left out the front ribbing because it wasn’t to my liking, but included the increases. I also made a 2-stitch I-cord instead of a 3-stitch one as recommended.

These were the first pair of pants I knitted and I enjoyed the process. I especially liked working the short rows because I have not made many objects that use this technique. But most of all, I like how cozy and warm they will be for my boy this winter!
