Pattern: Gabriela (Parapluie Improvised)
Materials: 1 skein Knit Picks Galileo, 1 skein Knit Picks Gloss, 2 yds ribbon, 6 small glass beads
This scarf was designed as a gift for my sister-in-law. It started with a skinny central scarf in a simple crossed stitch, using the Galileo yarn. I then crocheted some flowers from Edie Eckman’s “Connect the Shapes: Crochet Motifs,” pulled some ribbon through the open spaces on both sides and sewed the flowers onto the scarf. I sewed beads in the center of the flowers and used the Gloss yarn to crochet an edging around the center panel for added width, then worked the scarf in different stitches on both ends to add length.
And voilà. A short scarf that adds a bit of splendor to your outfits, no matter the season. To tie it, I folded it onto itself once and laid it on my neck, then pulled the ends through the hole that was made. (Known as the “loop-n-through” or “pull-through” method.)
