2018 Crafts for a Rainy Day, designs, knit

Beatriz

Craft: Knitting

Pattern: Beatriz (Parapluie Improvised)

Yarn: Universal Cotton Supreme

Here is a quick-to-knit skinny scarf that I designed as a gift for my mother-in-law. It is worked in alternating sections of Andalusian stitch and broken rib stitch. This was the first time I worked with the Andalusian stitch. It’s such a simple, pretty little stitch, that creates a subtle, calming affect in the fabric. When knitted in a nice cotton yarn, the scarf is an attractive addition to a casual t-shirt and jeans. Alternatively, it can be worked up in a soft, shiny luxury yarn to wear with a lovely dress on more formal occasions. I’m thinking of trying a wider version with a bulky weight yarn for myself!
